Center for Writing and Speaking Community home page

The Center for Writing and Speaking (CWS) is a peer tutoring organization devoted to improving and enhancing students’ writing and speaking skills. Staffed by trained peer tutors, the CWS provides students of all ability levels with individual assistance in writing papers and in preparing and practicing speeches and presentations. The CWS began in 1987 as the Writing Workshop, a tutoring project operated by faculty of the English Department. In 1996 this merged with the Department of Theatre and Dance's Speaking Center to create the Center for Writing and Speaking. In January 2001 the two separate offices were consolidated on the ground floor of McCain Library.
